The Lewes Singers is a small, occasional choir directed by Nicholas Houghton, formed in 2004 by Nick and his wife Robin. We sing services at cathedrals, sometimes perform concerts and fund-raisers, and are available for weddings and functions. Although we’re based in Lewes, East Sussex, some our members travel from London, Hampshire and Essex to sing with us.
We are experienced amateur singers although some members are professional or semi-professional musicians. From a pool of about 30 members we usually field a choir of between 16 and 22 singers for a concert or cathedral visit. For weddings, a smaller group of five to eight singers tends work very well.

I attended your evensong at Winchester Cathedral on 29/10 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have heard many good quality Cathedral choirs but have never heard a full psalm sung unaccompanied. It was very good. I particularly enjoyed the responses and wonder whether Nick Houghton has had them published or whether it’s possible to purchase a copy direct from him
Hi Claire, thanks very much for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed our singing. You can certainly get a copy of Nick’s responses directly from us. If you’d like to drop me an email I’ll let you know the details – robin at robinhoughton.com – best wishes, Robin
